Due to the horrible weather this morning the Maroondah Skate Schools at Ringwood & Croydon have been cancelled. Participants are most welcome to come in to the shop from 11.30 for a Free DRY roll!

The Maroondah Skate School at both Ringwood Skatepark and Croydon Y Space on Saturday mornings has commenced. We are currently into our third week with positions almost at capacity.

Nike SbA Am Series Finals 2012

The Nike SbA National Am Finals was on Saturday the 31st of March.

Simply’s Dean Johnston came in third! Back smiths all the way Dean!!

New Date Soon – Skate Shop Showdown 2012

Due to rain the Skate Shop Showdown 2012 at Croydon Youth Space was cancelled, of course with Melbourne weather, the park ended up drying up and a few of the teams came down for a session anyway. All things considered, a fun arvo was had by all breaking in the new park and enjoying the good company.

We will let everybody know of the rescheduled dates as soon as we know! Meanwhile… we’ve let Fast Times hold on to the Cup… as they drink from it most lunchtimes.

Maroondah Skateboard School Program

The Maroondah Skate School is a joint initiative between Maroondah City Council and Simply Skateboarding which will offer skateboarding clinics at both Ringwood Skate Park and the new Croydon Y Space.

The Skate School offers 3 FREE Come’n'Try Clinics (10 March, 24 March, 14 April) to introduce participants to skateboarding, with skateboards and safety equipment all provided.

The Term 2 Program (21 April – 23 June – $100 per participant) will offer weekly Saturday lessons for a 10 week period. Simply Skateboarding recognise participants develop skills, confidence and familiarisation through ongoing clinics. These clinics are a great affordable way to teach the basics in a safe and friendly environment, with professional and qualified staff.

All Ringwood Programs run from 10am – 11am.

All Croydon Programs run from 11.30am – 12.30midday.

Participants in the Maroondah Skate School can expect to learn:

Skate Park Etiquette & Confidence,

Safety,

Balance,

Pushing & Turning,

Basic Tricks.

Participants will also have heaps of fun whilst developing their motor skills and confidence at the same time. Places will be limited to ensure great staff ratios. Simply Skateboarding staff are accredited Level 1 Skateboard Coaches, hold a Level 2 First Aid Qualification and a current Working With Children Check.

Lesson Schedule Term 2 – 2012

(Starting Week 1 – April 23^rd – Ending Week 9– June 22^nd )

To coincide with Term 2, Simply will be offering our regular range of lessons. To help deliver skill development for participants, lessons will be structured in an ongoing manner, allowing your child to consistently work with the same coaches and group. Casual lessons will still be available, whilst all other lessons will be offered on a term basis. Lessons start the 2nd week back with the first lesson on the 23^rd April.

*All Simply Staff are Level 1 accredited Skateboard Coaches through the Australian Sports Commission and Skateboarding Australia. All Staff have Level 2 First Aid and current Working With Children Checks. We have high regard to safety and skill development though all our programs and lessons. Simply Skateboarding is also affiliated with VicSport.

*Annual Membership is available at $55. Member benefits include: access to member lesson prices, FREE Ramp Access on Thursdays & Fridays, $5 Ramp Access normal days, 10% off in store and access to exclusive member only events.

*Term Programs & Group Lessons will only run if 3 or more participants are booked in, a min deposit of $10 is required to secure your booking. Term Programs must be paid in full by week 2 unless prior arrangement has been made with management.

Simply’s SPYR Program will be starting Friday the 14th October 2011 and going through until Term 2 2012. Get involved and have a say in what happens at your local skate park and be part of future development of Skate Parks in Nillumbik!

Simply is open 7 days a week, 10am til 5pm (9pm on Thursday & Friday nights!).

We have the retail area with everything you need for your board as well as clothes, shoes, hats etc.

Then there’s the Skate Space which was built by Tom Flaherty, (aka VB Man) so it’s perfect. A spine with rollover double mini, wall ride, plus a four stair with movable street elements, will ensure hours of skating in the comfort of Eastland Shopping Centre. The spine also has a long removable piece of coping to bridge the channel (pictured below) which is loads of fun.

We also have The Skate Lounge which means you can chill for a bit between sessions.

Secret Squirell Skateboard Finder

So you need a new deck right? Your old one’s worn out and your broke?? Well register and get on our secret space..find the page with the clues…a skateboard hidden somewhere each month…now that’s what I’m talking about….

In 2011 we ran the Simply Squirell Skateboard Finder most months, however maybe we made the clues too hard, cos the last two months decks were never claimed!!

We’ll be starting the Secret Squirell again in May… Clues come out the first of the month!
